I’m back at college and I found out my favorite professor owns a squarebody.

UPDATE: I talked to him about, it’s apparently his new daily driver. He sold his 2019 Silverado Trail Boss to eliminate debt. Bought this for $3000 from his dad, it was his grandpa’s old truck. It only has 31,000 miles on it.

I’ll have to ask how long he’s owned it, but it’s his nice weather car only. So no winter salt and nastiness, plus he might have bought it when he lived in Texas.

It’s not far from the rust belt though, southern MO. I’m from central IL and I haven’t seen a clean one outside of a car show before

A 31,000 mile square body? swoon. These are the perfect intersection between classic and modern enough to drive .  The steering is hilariously bad and there is a lot of old cheap truck making in there, but the TBI is reliable enough and the mechanicals are sound.

Steering? Hah! I believe my grandfather called it “guiding” the truck down the road. His squarebody had an aluminum camper shell, a boot between the shell and the cab, and a bed so the grandkids could lie down on the bed on long trips to see my great-grandparents.

He has no plans to sell. He won’t find a lower mileage truck for the money and wants to live debt free, so a new truck is out of the cards

Lol I’d love to fly out there, buy it, buy IM dinner then drive it home!

And despite the fact that long beds are cheaper than shorties , I’m 100% convinced that the longer truck is the one to drive regularly. Rides better - though I’d prefer a C10.
